Hi Jill and a belated welcome to the discussion,

Thank you for your post - I am interested to find out more about your
most recent project and will have a look at the
http://www.lincoln-ocean-victor-eddy.net/ web site. As we are not
allowed to view some Flash content at my workplace , I might have to
wait until I get home. I am intrigued by how you talk about 'impersonal
structures' - it implies that the systems are based in technology and
are removed from the experience of the human. There seems to be an irony
in that these systems are 'manned' - allowing for the capacity, as you
describe, for the 'potential reversibility' of these systems.

Queensland (AU) based film maker Debra Beattie, looked at the police,
through the vernacular of corruption and personal experience in an
online documentary "The wrong crowd" http://www.abc.net.au/wrongcrowd/.
Her intentions are different, but I thought this work was worth
mentioning as it does weave personal and intimate experience into a
documentary narrative - sort of coming from the opposite direction to
your project - that (as I understand it) is seeking the poetic and
searches for intimacy and addresses being distanced from the structure.
When I first saw Beatties' work, it struck a chord for me as I hail from
the same region and have strong memories of this time in Queensland as a
student and activist.
